The Province of Zambézia has taken a decisive step towards the modernization and competitiveness of the national economy by hosting the Seminar on the Dissemination of the Quality Policy and its Implementation Strategy (2023–2032), held in the city of Quelimane.
The event, promoted by the PROMOVE Comércio project, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNIDO, symbolizes not only the conclusion of a national awareness-raising cycle that began in Maputo and Nampula, but also the province’s renewed commitment to sustainable economic development based on quality.
In his remarks, UNIDO consultant Haider Pestamgy emphasized that the dissemination of the Quality Policy is “a crucial opportunity to reinforce the commitment of all stakeholders to improving the quality of products and services in the country,” highlighting the initiative’s impact on the competitiveness of Mozambican products, the well-being of the population, and the country’s ability to access demanding markets such as the European Union.
The Governor of Zambézia Province, Pio Matos, reinforced that quality “is more than a goal, it is a daily commitment,” noting that the policy aims, among other objectives, to protect public health, foster sustainable economic development, diversify exports, and strengthen the technical infrastructure of the National Quality System.
In his speech, the Governor also highlighted the importance of the Conformity Assessment Program (PAC), launched in 2023, which ensures that imported products comply with national and international technical standards.
For the participants, the seminar was an opportunity for dialogue and learning, but also for collective mobilization. “Quality should be understood as a shared responsibility,” said one of the participants, reflecting the collaborative spirit that marked the event.
It is worth noting that the seminar was attended by the Governor of Zambézia Province, Pio Matos; the Administrator of the District of Quelimane, Amostra Sobrinho; the Deputy Director General of INNOQ, Arlindo Mucone; as well as several representatives from the private sector, agriculture, fisheries, and commerce.
This gathering marks a new chapter for Mozambique in strengthening a culture of quality—an essential element for sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
