Creating Competitiveness for Exports in Mozambique

First Joint Meeting of the Negotiation Team and the Sub-Commission on Trade in Services

As part of the process of liberalizing trade in services within the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), and the SADC-EU Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), the Ministry of Industry and Commerce is in the process of establishing the Negotiation Team and the Sub-Commission on Trade in Services. These bodies will be responsible for addressing all aspects related to the negotiation of trade in services liberalization with regional, continental, and European Union negotiation partners.

In this context, on July 10, 2024, the first joint meeting of the Negotiation Team and the Sub-Commission on Trade in Services was held at the Chamber of Commerce of Mozambique Auditorium, with over 40 participants in attendance. The meeting aimed to initiate discussions on strategic approaches to service trade liberalization and to define roles for the negotiation process with regional and international partners.
