The National Institute of Standardization and Quality (INNOQ, IP) has announced the opening of the Public Inquiry period for the new Mozambican Standards Proposals (PrNMs) in the priority area of Food and Health, under the MAMAP project, in synergy with the Promove Comércio project, implemented by UNIDO and funded by the European Union.
The standards are available for consultation and suggestions from September 16 to November 14, 2024. The proposals include the following specific standards:
- PrNM 101:2024 – Ethical Code of Conduct for International Food Trade – Revision
- PrNM 1274:2024 – Standard for the Evaluation of the Quality of Tilapia Fingerlings
- PrNM 1275:2024 – Quality Standard for Tilapia Feed
- PrNM ISO 18 537:2024 – Traceability of Crustacean Products — Specifications on the Information to be Recorded in the Distribution Chains of Captured Crustaceans
- PrNM ISO 16 741:2024 – Traceability of Crustacean Products — Specifications on the Information to be Recorded in the Distribution Chains of Farmed Crustaceans
- PrNM ISO 12 877:2024 – Traceability of Fish Products — Specifications on the Information to be Recorded in the Distribution Chains of Farmed Fish
These standards aim to reinforce best practices in the food and health sectors, promoting food quality and safety, as well as product traceability in the fishing and aquaculture sectors.
Additionally, the aforementioned standards fall under the areas of Food, Health, Agro-Industry, and Environmental Protection, ensuring that Mozambique aligns with international standards and enhances its competitiveness in the global market.
During the Public Inquiry period, all interested parties can consult the documents and suggest improvements at the INNOQ, IP Documentation Center, located at Bairro do Zimpeto, Parcel 7168/D1/7 – Maputo, during regular business hours.
These standards represent an important step toward ensuring sustainability and quality in the international food trade and supporting the development of Mozambique’s productive sector.
