Creating Competitiveness for Exports in Mozambique

Export Readiness Training Boosts MSMEs in Tete

The city of Tete recently hosted training on Export Readiness, organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, through the Institute for the Promotion of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (IPEME) and with the support of the PROMOVE Trade project, implemented by UNIDO, with the support of the European Union. The event was attended by several Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) from the province, focusing on improving the export capacity and competitiveness of local companies in the international market.

The opening ceremony was marked by a speech from the representative of the Director of the Tete Provincial Services for Economic Activities, who highlighted the export opportunities provided by the strategic geographical location of the province, which borders three English-speaking countries – Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi. His words of encouragement also underlined Tete’s potential for agro-processing and the exploitation of mineral resources (see full Opening Speech here).

The training program included modules on Developing an Export Plan, Identifying Target Markets, Market Access Strategies, among other essential topics for entering international trade (See the full Program).

This training is part of the PROMOVE Comércio project’s initiatives to strengthen the competitiveness and readiness of Tete’s MSMEs for the challenges of the global market, ensuring that they are better prepared to export their products and services.
