World Metrology Day, 2021

Last Thursday, 20th May, was World Metrology Day. This year, the commemorations were focused on the area of Health Measurements. The Promove Comércio Project, as part of its activities to implement the Quality Infrastructure component, together with its counterpart, the National Institute for Standardization and Quality (INNOQ), celebrated the date by participating in webinars and seminars.

In one of the seminars organised by the Mozambican Association of Laboratories, the Project Coordinator, Zacarias Zandamela, offered posters containing this year’s motto to different stakeholders with an interest in Quality Infrastructure. “The Project has been supporting INNOQ in strengthening its capacity to serve national companies in terms of Standardization and Quality.

Representing INNOQ, the Director of Metrology, David Magaia, delivered a lecture on the role of Metrology for Health, in a context such as the Covid-19 pandemic. “INNOQ has been working with various laboratories and health units in the calibration of measuring instruments for health,” said Magaia.
